1 Day Trip to Yong Peng.

The day started wet and windy as Ric organized a day trip for his company annual staff outing to 永平, a quiet town in Malaysia in the state of Johor.

Despite our countless day trips to Malayisa, I still very much enjoy such short trips where i catch glimpses of old Singapore, and experience friendly ways of the Malaysians.

潮苑, Restoran Chaw Yuan
No. 1 Jalan Jati 2, Taman Nusa Bestari Jaya, 81300 Skudai.

A palatable Hong Kong Dim Sum breakfast marks a good start to our day. Everyone enjoyed the Siew Mai, Chee Cheong Fun, Char Siew Bao, Tofu Skin Roll, Fried Carrot Cake, Congee..

After an hour journey, we arrived in Yong Peng. One characteristic of Yong Peng town - tall extended TV antennas, for 'catching' Singapore's TV programs, we were told by our tour guide.

We then proceeded to YoYo Native Food Products for shopping of some pricey Malaysia factory processed food products (bought some regrettable Beh Teh Soh, 马蹄酥). And toured a little noodle making factory, the 永平正宗福州面.

Papaya trees in Oil Palm Plantation.

After a hearty lunch of Fuzhou style cuisine at Restoran Hock Hua, we drop in on Ecolite Biotech Bird Nests Manufacturing Plant.

Then we attended a simple agricultural tour in Kampung Sri Wangi, where we had a mini buffet of kampong snacks (fried sweet potatoes, steamed tapioca, pengat labu, pineapples...) from plant products, typically grown and harvested in the Rubber and Oil Palm plantations.

Giant-sized Malaysia Yam, from Jusco Supermart.

Some fine dinner dining at Restoran 金玉满堂 follows, after 2hrs of jam-packed Mall shopping at Aeon Tebrau City before we head to join the vehicle queues at the Johor-Singapore Checkpoints ;)

Our tour fare of $58, excluding tipping, covers 3 meals, sight-seeing and insurance. With most giving feedback that the meals arranged by Farmosa Holiday Tours's JB agent today were fairly good.

May I know how to go to Yong Peng by bus via Johor Bahru or Singapore and approximately how much does it cost with the length of journey? Thanks
