Royal Palm @ OCC

Salad Bar
Western cakes & Nonya kueh

Seafood on Ice
Finger Food & Pizzas
Roasted Beef
The live band was playing; the singer sang our delications beautifully. The evening sun glitzing in from the pool side while we laze in the comfort of the fresh air-conditioning. Buffet dinner was ready, as we waited for old colleagues to assemble for our annual reunion at the Royal Palm restaurant. A near perfect evening, at the resort-feel Orchid Country Club.

Food was freshly prepared, very tasty and in abundance. Even more endearing, the serene atmosphere of the restaurant. To name a few of our favourite dishes from their dinner menu, they are the curry fish head, veg spring rolls, black pepper lala clams, tandoori chicken, ayam lemak, live cooking chicken mutton satay, fresh prawns on ice and creamy mushroom soup.

Every guest had a good time. It was a lovely evening. Amazingly affordable with their current 1-for-1 promotion at $45++ per pax.

食客, Ssikkek Korean BBQ

Seasoned Beef, Pork Belly

Spicy Chicken, Seasoned Soy Sauce Pork, Seasoned Soy Sauce Chicken

This place is like a Lion den. Oh, and i'm seeing some of you wagging that tail!

At Ssikkek Korean BBQ, you pay just $14++ for their buffet lunch to feed the lion appetite. The package includes a Budae-jjigae (Korean Army Base Stew Pot!), a fountain of free flow soft drinks and sweet oranges for dessert.

Of course, we went straight for the BBQ meat! Jal meokkesseumnida!

Quite an authentic Korean BBQ house that offers Korean dipping sauce, side dishes of Kimchi, Korean rice cake, fried chicken wings, fried vermicelli on its menu. Others include egg sandwiches, sweet sour pork and sautéed vegetable.

I couldn't resist the delicious looking cooked food, and enjoyed wrapping the BBQ with Kimchi and crunchy lettuce. Service staffs are friendly and prompt to change the hotplate for us, several times. Very soon, we were bloated.

No doubt, such buffet kept you off meat for the next few days. I was soon reminiscing the aroma of the BBQ meat.

Side Dishes Table - Kimchi, Salad, Raw Onions, Garlic, Radish, Beansprouts, Brinjal, Hot Dog, Crab Stick.

Cooked Food Table

Korean Fried Chicken, Korean Stir-fried Pork

Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant

Kambing Panggang, grilled lamb

We are back to the Kintamani for our yearly gathering, with prices up at $55++ per pax now. Compare with what we had in 2011, the food has maintained its standard, with some toothsome addition like the grilled lamb leg.

With their 1-for-1 promotion still valid with major credit cards, this is definitely value.

DIY Station - Mee Rebus

DIY - Gado Gado Jakarta

Another memorable dish would be their ayam panggang which has a nice ginseng aroma! Besides the typical fresh fruits and ice-cream for dessert, there are also hot bubur cha cha, chilled chendol, crispy goreng pisang and the special lolos beras.

A buffet i would love to return on the very next day.

Appetizers

Udang Rebus, fresh boiled prawn on ice

Suki-ya Shabu Shabu Hot Pot Buffet

I love hot pots; and any scalding hot food.

So what's better than Suki-ya Hotpot buffets where prices ($18.99++, Adult weekday lunch. 1 for 1 Promotion till 29 Feb) are low and ingredients are fresh. Some complain about the lack of variety in their spread? But we were at their Kallang Wave Mall outlet today, and we thought the variety and quality of their spread were not bad at all.

Pork based broth, Butaniku and light Shabu Shabu were decided, and we can't wait to start at the buffet table. We like that the supply of fresh meat was al carte, which means that it will not be left to dry out at the communal counter. Together, two of us just managed to polish off 3 plates of beef and pork respectively.

Sesame sauce used to be my favorite dip, but here, it'll be their Sichuan Mala Chili! It enhances the flavor of the red meat; helping me eat more. Don't miss it.

Do wish to be back for another lazy afternoon of bathing - the meat in the sizzling soup; and we, in the contrasting comfort of the air-conditioning. Such, was the lure of 'battleshipping'.

1 Market by Chef Wan - A return after 2 years.

My first and last visit here was 2 years ago. Today, we were riding on Groupon promotion at $37.50 for 2 pax lunch buffet, and were glad things remain fantastically so. The restaurant is fully booked.

Stayed faithful to sweet tasting seafood of fresh 'Gong Gong', prawns and crabs, and have my seconds; similarly for the Sashimi. Followed by some flavorsome roasted beef and chicken satay before proceeding to the long cooked food table! By now, queue had formed for the popular black pepper seafood platter - it had to be rationed and served by the chef :)

Before i rolled over with a bloated tummy, we stuffed up with eclairs, puffs, cakes and ice-cream on warm waffles! This is my lunch and dinner, altogether.
