Flamenco vs Kathak

It's a lazy, blue Monday but i'm glad we made it to Flipside on The Concourse today as it presents a dance demonstrations of the intersection between Spanish Flamenco and Indian Kathak, the classical dance of North India.

Its intro reads, "Flamenco and kathak may come from different worlds but little-known fact is that flamenco has its earliest roots in India." This was enough to rouse my curiosity for the evening.

I was gladly surprised of the unusual fusion yet vibrant combination of the Indian & Spanish art forms.

The presentation today establishes the wonder of deep rooted link among two diverse cultures with the dancers/choreographers creating the unique kind of magic at exactly the point they meet.

And as all the dancers came together in the uplifting beats, the crowd clapped and cheered them on.

It was a heartening evening.
