A Nation's Birthday

It is strange how the gigantic National Flag never fails to stir us, a deep sense of National pride as it flew before us. Our childlikeness makes us wants to cheer aloud.

It's moment like this that life's struggles to living in high cost Singapore were forgotten, for the brief period. A year when inflation is at its possible highest left little to cheer for the man in the street, and the National Day Celebration had apparently fail as a morale booster this time round; at least for me.

It's a year when i feel less enthusiastic about our National Day. Maybe i've out grown it, but more possibly we were all weighted down with the many changes and everyday struggles of living in high cost and rigidly governed Singapore.

On the other hand, we were the envy of many countries with our efficient and systematic way of running the lawful state and meeting international deadlines & targets.

Not a scholar in Economics or Social Law, i couldn't commend on the system the country is administered. Maybe it's just the stress of living in a highly efficient city; there's always some gains, some losses.

The heart shaped image formed by the Black Knights of Singapore Air Force reminds us of the love we have for our country and our loved ones here.

And my 43rd birthday wish for Singapore would be a quote from Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew that Singapore would be a Beautiful City... in 10 years.

Happy Birthday, Singapore.
