Nyonya Kueh Kueh!

Welcome to the colourful world of the Nonya Kueh!!

These were to curb our craving for Nonya Kueh after days of watching the telecasted "The Little Nyonya 小娘惹" serials.

At $2 for 4 selections, these were cheaply affordable at level 1 of the People's Park Centre, a temporary food stall tend by a Bibik dressed in their traditional Nyonya kebaya!

We love their "not so sweet" recipe that we could buy them occasionally for diabetic Grandmom.

Be there early for more buying choices. Business had been so good recently that not much was left when we arrived at 3pm.

Good Morning Nanyang Cafe

Was introduced to this place by Makansutra Forum, and planned to give it a go today.

Menu boards were clearly on display at the entrance of their Chinatown Point outlet.

Needless to mention, the "must have" would have to be the coffee ($1.20)!

We ordered the Set B ($4.20) which comes with a Coffee, Eggs and their specialty, the Ciabatti bread!

It was so very good!

Crisply warm toasted bread crust that oozes greasy Butter and Kaya with every bite! The messy eating were easily forgiven :-)

Morning Bah Kut Tea, 早市肉骨茶!

Each time i'm at Hong Lim Food Centre, i wished i had an appetite of an cow.

There's simply so much good food here!

Today, i've got one more reason to be; the Bah Kut Teh.

Hokkien Styled Bah Kut Teh.

The Hokkien Styled Bah Kut Teh soup was non the peppery recipe as of the more popular Teochew version. It was more of herbal, but nonetheless delicious.

Hokkien Styled Braised Pork Trotters.

Salted Vegetables & Fried Fritters.

I had such a gourmet lunch here, utterly satisfying!

This was especially so after my disappointing Pork Ribs experience at the renowned "Ah Sio" & "Yat Hua" Bah Kut Teh.

The Pork Ribs here were absolutely succulent, juicy, meaty, fatty, tender, gooey. It was everything i had wished for! Be it the soupy or braised version, it's simply saliva drooling...

Maybe i'm gluttonous, but i almost "shallow my tongue" eating, everything was so...oo tasty i wished i could gorge up faster.

The above feast was but at an economical price of $11.80!

Tai Seng Noodle House

Wanton Noodles, with Extra Braised Pork Ribs ($3.50)

I've been waiting for so long to be back here for their Wanton Noodles! Today, we are early at 1045hrs; no queue yet.

Oh! The plateful of goodness! I couldn't wait to tuck in right after all these picture taking!!

We registered 6 wanton dumplings in soup! Yum.

Have you try them? You got to be here.

The big delicious plateful offers such great satisfaction each time. I love every ingredients used here. EVERYTHING!

P.S. I Love You (2007)

"P.S. I Love You" is a 2007 American romantic comedy that i feel would be great for this holiday season viewing.

It touches me in the way the husband had planned ways for his wife to go on with life after he passed on. And this could perhaps be the most consoling arrangement for our surviving spouse.

With letters and presents arriving to the wife (with help from the monther-in-law) by the days and on her birthday, it showed him as one who knew her so well, as to anticipate her moods and whims. These comforting letters guided her on her pathway to a new life... as she slowly gets over the death of her loving husband.

Of course, in real life this could be a very different situation. But for once, let's just indulge in these romantic fairytales.

It is indeed, one of the best romantic comedies in a long while... Go watch it with your loved one this holiday :-)

Crackling Roasted Pork!

Roasted Pork Belly ($3.30 per 100 grams)

From the supermarket of Scotts Isetan, we packed this from the temporary little food cart (next to Pepper Lunch) as Ric couldn't resist the aromatic whiff of the meat roasting and the sight of its beautifully roasted Pork Knuckles ($18.80) and Pork Belly.

Its Pork Belly was certainly value for money! The taste and texture of the meat was awesome! Yes, anytime better than our local Roasted Pork belly.

It is leaner than our local fare, yet juicily meaty and sweet tasting with just the right amount of saltiness.

You gotta try!
