31 Sungei Road Laksa

Laksa ($2)

Sungei Road is probably famous for its Laksa; so many Laksa stalls are named after it.

We were at Ric's favourite stall in Seng Chuan Eating House, along 31 Kelantan Lane. Though we were put off by its location and untidiness of the environment, we were often lured here by the Laksa.

The Laksa here comes with fresh Cockles and Fish Cake only, unlike the fancier Katong Laksa version which comes with small Shrimp as well.

And we would have preferred the unpretentious presentation here.

The original Sungei Road Laksa had shifted to Block 27, Kelantan Road for a few years liao. They used to be at Block 31 many years ago but when the current Block 31's coffee shop owner increase their rental, they shifted out.

The current 31 Sungei Road Laksa is an "imitation" which I refused to try. However, if you like the Laksa here, that's ok. Just thought of sharing the information with you in case you have been "conned" into believeing that this Block 31 stall is the original one.

You are right, Albert. i was aware of the original stall under Blk 27 but found this stall more appealing :)

There's 1 occasion we pack 1 pack from each stall to try and we verdict this stall to be the better one.

Try them! Hope you enjoy also. Thanks for your comment, Albert!

Oh i forgot to mention, this stall at 31 was less salty than the stall at Blk 27, hence our preference :)

Thank you for reading, Albert.
