Green Tea Coffee..?

We learned this from our trip to Malaysia, Yong Peng.

At YoYo Native Food Products where 3-in-1 Coffee Mix of Green Tea Coffee (RM$20 for 15 sachets, updated Jun 2015) was dole out generously to us for sampling. We had found it pleasing albeit being overly sweetened.

And Ric had facetiously suggested using Green Tea Bag over our home not-so-sweet 3-in-1 Coffee; it works wonderfully ;)

Have a shot.

Restoran, 金玉满堂酒楼

Despite not having any feel of hunger, we were still in much anticipation for tonight's dinner; after the many good food today ;)

The posh exterior of the restaurant raised our expectations..

Cuttlefish with Sweet Sour Sauce.

Braised Pork.

Prawns in light Herbal Soup.

Every items on the menu was of good restaurant standards; the freshness of tonight's Steam Fish shall be a good judge for it ;)

The merriment of our comfortable dinner perfected our 1 day trip to Johor Bahru, Yong Peng town..

欢喜地, Food & Tea Hong Kong

After all our heavy gorging, we badly needed aid in digestion - Caffeine, should do well ;)

With this urgency on our mind, a drink at Food & Tea HK (level 3 of Aeon Tebrau City) was our priority.

Ying Yong in Hong Kong (RM$3.50+)

Alas, we were disappointed. The heavier hint of Coffee in their "Ying Yang" drink dulled the drink; Milk Tea proportion should be higher..

"Ying Yong" Cake (RM$3.20+)

"Ying Yong" cake consisted of 1 petty-sized Yam cake and White Eye Bean Cake (眉豆糕) each, both neatly warmed and were as good as we last remembered.

Pork Chop Burger in "Macau" style, 澳门猪扒包 (RM$5.90+)

Often heard of "Pork Chop Burger" in Hong Kong drama, and i finally got to taste it today.

It was lips smacking good! The combination of the fresh Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Pork Chop and Eggs sandwiched in crisply toasted Buns!

富华, Restoran Hock Hua

Lunch was a hefty meal at Restoran Hock Hua, of Fuzhou style cuisine that's well-known for in Yong Peng town.

The handmade Hock Chew noodles that were first boiled, then stir fried and prepared in the like of Hokkien Mee.

This was popular with the gals while guys preferred gorging on fatty Braised Pork Belly, the 扣肉包.

The Fermented Red Rice Wine Chicken was equally good and there was also a serve of Hock Chew Fishball (福州鱼圆); a type of fishballs with pork meat on the inside.

And last but not least, gelatinous Kong Ba Bao (扣肉包) that EVERYBODY loves to sin on ;)

永平正宗福州面

A fun visit to 1 traditional Yong Peng Noodle Factory located just off the main road through Yong Peng.

Noodle Pack (3 for RM$10)

We were met with a table of ready made Hock Chew Noodles and Yee-fu noodles; workers busy cooking the noodles while visitors like us snapped photos away..

The fresh Hock Chew noodles had to be refrigerated and consumed within 3 weeks; the dried Yee-fu noodles within 3 months.

A pretty lady then brought us to the demonstration room to brief us on the traditional way of kneading flour.

It's definitely a laborious task as we watched the worker seated astride a thick wooden pole berthed to the wall, while bouncing on a mound of dough, trying to flatten it evenly.

Haha.. and that prompted us to buy up RM$20 worth of noodles :)

1 Day Trip to Yong Peng.

The day started wet and windy as Ric organized a day trip for his company annual staff outing to 永平, a quiet town in Malaysia in the state of Johor.

Despite our countless day trips to Malayisa, I still very much enjoy such short trips where i catch glimpses of old Singapore, and experience friendly ways of the Malaysians.

潮苑, Restoran Chaw Yuan
No. 1 Jalan Jati 2, Taman Nusa Bestari Jaya, 81300 Skudai.

A palatable Hong Kong Dim Sum breakfast marks a good start to our day. Everyone enjoyed the Siew Mai, Chee Cheong Fun, Char Siew Bao, Tofu Skin Roll, Fried Carrot Cake, Congee..

After an hour journey, we arrived in Yong Peng. One characteristic of Yong Peng town - tall extended TV antennas, for 'catching' Singapore's TV programs, we were told by our tour guide.

We then proceeded to YoYo Native Food Products for shopping of some pricey Malaysia factory processed food products (bought some regrettable Beh Teh Soh, 马蹄酥). And toured a little noodle making factory, the 永平正宗福州面.

Papaya trees in Oil Palm Plantation.

After a hearty lunch of Fuzhou style cuisine at Restoran Hock Hua, we drop in on Ecolite Biotech Bird Nests Manufacturing Plant.

Then we attended a simple agricultural tour in Kampung Sri Wangi, where we had a mini buffet of kampong snacks (fried sweet potatoes, steamed tapioca, pengat labu, pineapples...) from plant products, typically grown and harvested in the Rubber and Oil Palm plantations.

Giant-sized Malaysia Yam, from Jusco Supermart.

Some fine dinner dining at Restoran 金玉满堂 follows, after 2hrs of jam-packed Mall shopping at Aeon Tebrau City before we head to join the vehicle queues at the Johor-Singapore Checkpoints ;)

Our tour fare of $58, excluding tipping, covers 3 meals, sight-seeing and insurance. With most giving feedback that the meals arranged by Farmosa Holiday Tours's JB agent today were fairly good.
