柯双兴, Carrot Cake

Dark Sauced Carrot Cake ($2)

I missed Ke Shuan Xing Carrot Cake in North Bridge Road Market and Food Centre. The honest pricing of minimum $1.50 stays but we decidedly need the extras :)

And am both surprised yet comforted to know that a younger man is helming the stove while the elder hawker is helping out at the stall today!? Surprised because i could taste nought the difference ;)

We then packed another, home for Mum.

Kallang Western Barbeque

Today is the Hari Raya Puasa holiday and we had spend the cool rainy afternoon trimming down the thickness of my IKEA cabinet with a carpentry plane. It was laborious work..

By the time we were ready for dinner, a simple fare at NTU Canteen 2 and a walk on the campus greensward for an after dinner coffee was all we could manage.

Mixed Grill ($4), Fish & Chips ($3.50)

We were hungry; and the Mixed Grill doused with self-concocted garlic sauce might well satisfied us while giving a full sampling palate (1 Chicken chop, 1 Pork chop, 1 Hotdog) of what they has to offer here.

The grill was right while the deep frying was disastrous. Fish fillets were over coated with flour and got charred in the hot oil. All sets come with an option of Rice or Bun.

Still, the night ended well with a walk in cool freshness of the night airs.. leaving behind the cooking barbecues.

Fried Fish Bean Curd!

Fried Fish Bean Curd, 豆支 ($6 for 10pcs)

We believe Li Duo Xing Seafood Soup stall (利多兴, #01-15) in Amoy Street Food Centre is the ONLY hawker in Singapore to sell our memorable childhood snack of Fried Fish Paste Beansticks.

My eldest auntie was sort of related to the hawker's family when they were still operating a little Yong Tau Foo stall then. Mom and auntie would always bring us kids to patronise them for our delightful bowl of springy Fishballs and scissored Fish Paste Bean Curd with sweet Yong Tau Foo Noodles!

This lovely Yong Tau Foo and Fish Paste Bean Curd memory was deeply etched in my mind.

If you hasn't try Fish Bean Curd, you might wish to. It's a savory snack that whets your appetite as you imagine having it together with the sweet chili sauce. Tasting absolutely satisfying as you minced it between mouthful of rice; even better if you could go down to the stall where they serve it together with hot vermicelli soup! Mmmm...

UAE - Delice Pound Cake

Double Chocolate Pound Cake, (SPC Choices Service Station, $3.95)

What were unknown to us about U.A.E., the United Arab Emirates were them having interest in manufacturing sector also. Our knowledge of Dubai was simply limited to the "The Palm Islands", "The World Islands", the 7 stars rated Burj al-Arab Hotel and the many amazing Dubai's Skyscrapers.

Today's cake was by Dofreeze, operating their production facility in Dubai Industrial City.

The luscious cake was pleasing for the price we paid. For all i know, this is a good enough cake to be enjoyed with friends visiting your homes; or just as sweet little gifts for the forthcoming Hari Raya Puasa.

Besides Double Chocolate flavors, they have the Vanilla Butter and Blueberry. Serving suggestions include savoring the cake with ice cream or flavored sauces. Sounds delicious.

And excellent with Coffee, i thought ;)

Singapore's Pisa Tower

Doesn't this building reminds you of Italy's leaning Tower of Pisa?

It wasn't until i searched the internet that reveals we were looking at the making of the Reflection at Keppel Bay, a waterfront residential development featuring 6 high-rise towers, some linked by sky bridges, and spacious low-rise villas. The towers are of 24-storey to 41-storey heights.

So this is just 1 of the tower block coming up and we're going to see half a dozen "Banana Tower" by year 2013. Haha..

Jokes aside, we really like this architectural design and marvelled the construction aspects of it. Can't wait to see the completion of this unique piece by master architect Daniel Libeskind. It's going to be awesome ;)

28 Rojak at Tanglin Halt

Rojak ($2)

28 Rojak stall was in Tanglin Halt Food Centre; Ric was having a craving for some shrimp paste mixed Rojak and the standard fare here quite easily satisfy him ;)

Don't you yearn for Rojak sometimes too?
