How to... Century Egg

I had initially been rather repulsive towards Century Egg, for my first 20 years of life ;) Until Ric shown me to eat the Egg with slices of chilled pickled Ginger; it become a charm.

Serving the Century Egg chilled also help lessen the much feared Ammonia pungency. The eggs can be eaten without further preparation, on their own or as a side dish. Here's how:

GoodMan Preserved Duck Egg (Box of 6pcs, $3.20)

Mum bought Goodman Brand Century Egg with snow-flake/ pine-branch (松花) – like patterns and bottled pickled Ginger Roots from our neighbourhood Supermarket, the NTUC.

1. Hit the Century egg against a hard surface (table or plate) to crack away the thickly coated mixture of mud and rice husk covering the Egg. Do not use too much force.
2. After removing the messy covering and egg shell completely, run the Egg under water to clear away any fine dust.
3. Cut up the Egg into desirable quarters and leave it to chill in the refrigerator.
4. Just before serving, topped up with chilled pickled Ginger.

Hope you learned to enjoy Century Egg as much as i do now ;)
